Sunday November 25

It smells wonderful here...George is making turkey soup. I cooked the traditional turkey dinner yesterday for the 4 of us. It was yummy (if I do say so myself).
My hands hurt today; probably from making Christmas cards...it is taking forever to do all of the steps. I wonder if people appreciate the pain and time and money? There are 64 names on my Xmas Card List.

I have a Smash Book to make for a Xmas gift. Who knows what else I'll get into today. Leftovers for sure.

My girls

My girls:

Wednesday

Good morning,
My daughter Tina has been here since Monday. Her first visit to the Villages...and she loves it. She giggles the whole time she is riding in the golf cart. Spent most opf yesterday with Dee giving a tour of some of the houses and pools and rec centers.

Oops I just spilled coffee all down my pj's. Whatever...

We went to Fuji, our favorite Japanese restaurant for dinner. A big WOW for first time customers.

I have been working on my canvases. I added the "Love" to the Seahorses and painted the stars and a shadow around "MoonShadow". Also designed the shirt and skirt for the "Pink Boots" canvas.

Progress.
I am taking Tina to Mom's for them to leave for NM early in the morning. George and I will be at Disney for a couple of days.
Checking back in when I get back.

Sunday

Listening to Alan Jackson sing our favorite hymns.
Incense that Donna Fusco gave me is burning in the studio as I prepare to put "LOVE" in gesso on my Seahorses Canvas; a few details left on the starfish and sand dollar too.

Got my hair cut yesterday...it is shorter than I have worn it in 30 years. Way too short. George hates it. Too boyish for him (and for me too). It grows fast...

Tina arrives tomorrow. Lori and I are going to pick her up at the airport. Planning a fun couple of days.

Mom will be happy to see us on Wednesday. I have some new tops for her and a pretty fuschia cardigan. Hope it all fits!

Our friends Nancy and Steve are at Disney this week and we are joining them Thursday and Friday to go to Universal ( I get to see Harry Potter) and Animal Kingdom. Where else in the world can you see a Wizarding World and go on Safari in a couple of days? I promise to post some pictures of both.

Saturday is Dad's 92nd birthday. My brother Arty is planning something in Apopka.

I finished reading the third book in the Boonsboro Inn Trilogy by Nora Roberts. I hate when they end...I get so into their lives. The next book I'm reading is The Passage by Justin Cronin. It is huge - 766 pages.

Weekend

Only two more days and my daughter Tina will be here from New Mexico. She hasn't seen our Florida home yet...so happy she is coming.
We are having a girl's day on Tuesday. We'll be hitting all the best places around The Villages. Lunch somewhere fun. High tea and cookies or cupcakes in the afternoon could be on the agenda and then George is taking us to our favorite Japanese Restaurant for dinner.

Tomorrow morning I will be weeding the flower garden. I didn't get to that today; but I did complete the clean up and organizing of the guest bedroom/art studio/meditation room.

My order of Silks arrived. They are like precious sparkling butterflies waiting to take wing and fly onto my canvas. Can't wait to open them and do some serious creating and playing. I'll be sure to post pix here and on my Moonshadow Su Facebook page.

Sunday

Happy Sunday...
I have spent most of today painting my SeaHorses Love Canvas. Not sure that I like the starfish but haven't figured how to change it...I did start Canvas 4 by painting the basic background color and tearing some papers to collage on.
Yesterday hubby and I went to St. Augustine with our friends and had a blast. Can't wait to go back and stay longer - lots of fun things to do.
My sis Dee is almost here and I can't wait to go over and welcome them home.

The Patriots are losing big time. George is really not happy (neither am I). Time to grab a bite to eat.
Hope to put up the pix from yesterday soon.

Moonshadow in progress

My painting Moonshadow is in the beginning stages. There are a lot of brushtrokes visible and I haven't decided if that's the way it should be or if another background layer is coming. I love the luminosity of the "turquoise" Perfect Pearls Mists over the Folk Art Shiny "Night Sky".  The moon face is going to be painted on Arches 140 # Hot press watercolor paper and then mounted on something thick to stand out from the canvas sky. I'll keep you posted as it starts to the next phase. lol.

Good morning

Moons on the mind today. Canvas 3 may have to be moons. Canvas 1 is "Faith, Feathers & Flowers", 2 is "SeaHorses"and 4 is still a mystery.

Flying

Hello Fellow Flyers and Friends,
Totally awesome first week...overloaded (in a good way) with new people, new info and the truly amazing KRR.
I have been painting and journaling while trying to keep up with the Posts and the Facebook Group.
Impossible task. Needless to say the housework and organizing has come to a STOP.

My Blog here has had a major redo today. My post text was light colored on a black background and it was a No No, so I have switched it up and hopefully it is easier to read and still has some style.
I love swirls and paisley. A website is in my future - I can see it - already in my head and heart.

Still pondering what to share here and what to keep to myself. My Art is very connected to my healing process - when I create I am able to work through the pain of my health challenges. Happy to report that I have been feeling much better since starting on new meds last week and doing the loving kindness meditation every day.

Something about me; I just love birds, I collect feathers, and my Flamingo collection is extensive. So Flying Lessons is truly appropriate for me.

Fear of Flying Started today - way to go...

Kelly Rae Robert's ecourse started today.
I am so excited and scared and happy to be a part of this community of artists.
Can't sleep tonight so I have been up for a long time.
Read my first lesson and journaled and posted in the comments. Looking to upload some of my photos today. I am not going to be afraid of sharing here; that's what it is all about. My candle is burning and my ReiKi energy is whirling.
Happy day.
Many Blessings!

July 25, 2012

Good Morning,
Plans today include going to the Energy/Meditation Group, Xray of my right knee and possibly the TB Test;may have to wait until Friday for that.
Canvas on sale at Michael's and I want to buy Modeling Paste. I finally found some reasonably priced ink jet transparency sheets and a great text background stamp - they are being shipped this week. No other purchases allowed.

My granddaughter Kayla has been posting new professional photos of her family on Facebook. Check out my profile...they are so wonderful.

Nikki, you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers today. Mutchie was so loved...God bless.

Blessings

Mutchie Hanna passed this weekend. She was a second Mom to me for many years. We shared a passion for gardening and painting and family. Thank you Mutchie...my life is so much richer for having you in it. I love you.

Monday June 25

Monday madness here in FL. Nonstop crazy wind and downpouring rain; still windy but the rain is finally easing up. We had tornado watches last night. The roads are messy and water everywhere. The doves are bathing in our flower garden - there is so much pooled water in puddles. The lanai is soaked. I have been working on the Butterfly Princess. Have to keep overpainting the background to get it right. It is all pinks and purples and white. Did I tell you that George bought me a painting table for my studio space (guest room too)?
Now I have two separate areas for Su Inspirations.

I am planning a trip to Michaels this week to get some canvas at 40% off. I want to try something small maybe 6 X 12" and then do something really big for my living room long wall - maybe a diptich.

My crafting table is pretty much covered with art (ATC's to mail to RI, my Smash Book, etc.) and markers and glue and Journals. Once I get that cleaned off and stuff put away I am going to create some Mail Art. So be prepared - it might get mailed to you.

Off to call Mom in NH and Rora in MA.

Pink Sunday 2

Pix of Rainbow Bird, Heart and Butterfly Princess.

Pink Sunday

Sunday in The Villages
Adding more butterflies to my Butterfly Princess painting. I still can't decide what color to paint her crown. Abi likes this painting - she thinks the princess looks like her. Maybe she does a little. I took pix with my camera yesterday and will post them when I download my memory card later.

My sugar has been getting better since using the different insulin. Whoopee!

In checking out some of my favorite Blogs this morning, I was inspired to do some Mail Art. Now I have to figure out who will send Art back to me - Nikki and Maureen and Micki come to mind.
It is about time I share my Blog with some people too. That is a little scary as I am writing more openly about what goes on in my head and with my health.

Today is not an easy day. Very stiff and painful moving. George is getting so good at giving awesome gentle hugs. I am so grateful for him. He is just the best most awesome husband; he takes such good care of me and leaves me alone when I am grumpy. He is supportive of my artwork.

George got a new set of Hybrid golf clubs yesterday. He is so happy with them - like a little kid.

I am learning about EBay and Etsy shops. And I would love to get published by Stampington.

My Studio space is growing in our guest bedroom. I'll post some pix of that too. I moved the bed away toward the other side of the room yesterday by turning the side table against the closet wall. Such a good move...way more breathing room to roll around in my chair.

So Tim Holtz is giving workshops here at our "She Scrapbooks" store next month. Just too expensive for me - over $125. I have been watching his videos on Ranger's site instead.

Have to get up and move around. And I need to find a soft comfy pillow for my chair.

Art Journal Spread

This is a Journal Spread I did in my Art Journal awhile back. Sunflowers for Lori.

June 20th Summer Solstice tonight.

Good morning,
So far I have wiped down the fridge and kitchen surfaces - drips and drabs; made the bed and got dressed. Paul just picked up Dad to take him home. We had a good visit.
Things to do today:
  • work on Rainbow hummingbird painting
  • review video on transfers
  • set up EBAY account and Paypal account
  • Put Mom's dishes on Craig's List
  • Finish  backs on Patriotic ATC's
  • Water bamboo
  • Call Aunty and Mom
Love and Blessings to all.

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

June 19th.

The guys are on their way to Inverness to play golf. Dad will be happy to see some old friends.

I am being interviewed today by the Sun about our Reiki Circle. I hope some people show up.

Still painting my Rainbow Bird. Added the word FLY in stenciled letters.

My first attempt at a transfer for the Generations book did not go well. I am not sure if the paper was too thick or if I didn't use enough gel medium. I haven't been able to find any acetone transfer film. I will google it later.

I pruned the rose bushes - working through the pain. They were looking ugly...

My Smash Book needs some more birds in it, so I am going to use all of my bird stamps in it.

My Patriotic ATC's are completed except for the backs. I will have to get moving and get them in the mail this week. I am wondering if MaryAnn can skype me into the ATC Club meeting at the store. I would love to be able to do that; Suzanne could come over too.

George and I went to the Tommy Roe concert last night. What great songs he wrote...I really enjoyed it.

Back to playing with my art stuff. I thank the Lord and George for being blessed to have so much.

Tuesday June 12th, 2012

Up early this morning with an upset stomach. I slept all afternoon yesterday after having the Red Hat's here. Thank God for George as he did all of the work getting ready and cleaning up. I had a good day pain-wise; grateful for that.

I hope that Suzanne G. and I can get together today. I want to tell her Tina's stories about RI.

It looks like the board book is going to be "Generations". I have a few more pages to gesso and then I can get to creating my pages. I've been reading the Alphabetica A to Z book and getting all sorts of inspiration.

My Clarissa portrait has too big a face so I will probably start over and try again.
I am going to scan some of my journal pages to post to the facebook journaling site.

TO DO LIST
  • Clean off work table
  • Scan Journal Pages
  • Gesso Board Book Pages
  • Start a page in the Moleskine Journal
  • Create Patriotic ATC's
  • Water Walk
  • Pick up prescription at CVS
  • Stay awaaaaaaay from Michaels
  • Organize Jewelry
  • Talk to Linda
More later...

6/11/2012 Monday

The Sun is out! It has been raining for a week now. Doesn't help my arthritis...getting worse. Glad I am an optimist! But I really could use a best friend hug.

June 9, 2012 Starting Over

It is almost a year since my last post...but what a year it has been...
I am more involved in Art, struggling with RA, and cherishing my family.

Right now I am working on a watercolor of the Koi pond that was on my street here in The Villages, Florida. I have two Art Journals, a Smash Book created from scratch and a Board Book that I am preparing for some mixed media collage about my inner stories.

Last month I went to visit my new great-granddaughter Clarissa in Delaware. She is the apple of my eye; so precious.

Many of my friends/family are struggling with health challenges. These are supposed to be the "Golden Years". Looks like I need a Gratitude list to keep the balance.

I am Grateful for:
                             my husband George
                             my husband George
                             my husband George
                             our home in FL
                             Family
                             my garden
                             creativity - my Muse
                             my spirit guides
                             my eyesight
                             ReiKi
                             Lori and Abi moving here

The short list for today!

We are going to the Flea Market and Sam's club today. I am looking for the little flags on toothpicks for my Patriotic ATC project. Should be fun.

I'll let you know.
