Monday June 25

Monday madness here in FL. Nonstop crazy wind and downpouring rain; still windy but the rain is finally easing up. We had tornado watches last night. The roads are messy and water everywhere. The doves are bathing in our flower garden - there is so much pooled water in puddles. The lanai is soaked. I have been working on the Butterfly Princess. Have to keep overpainting the background to get it right. It is all pinks and purples and white. Did I tell you that George bought me a painting table for my studio space (guest room too)?
Now I have two separate areas for Su Inspirations.

I am planning a trip to Michaels this week to get some canvas at 40% off. I want to try something small maybe 6 X 12" and then do something really big for my living room long wall - maybe a diptich.

My crafting table is pretty much covered with art (ATC's to mail to RI, my Smash Book, etc.) and markers and glue and Journals. Once I get that cleaned off and stuff put away I am going to create some Mail Art. So be prepared - it might get mailed to you.

Off to call Mom in NH and Rora in MA.

Pink Sunday 2

Pix of Rainbow Bird, Heart and Butterfly Princess.

Pink Sunday

Sunday in The Villages
Adding more butterflies to my Butterfly Princess painting. I still can't decide what color to paint her crown. Abi likes this painting - she thinks the princess looks like her. Maybe she does a little. I took pix with my camera yesterday and will post them when I download my memory card later.

My sugar has been getting better since using the different insulin. Whoopee!

In checking out some of my favorite Blogs this morning, I was inspired to do some Mail Art. Now I have to figure out who will send Art back to me - Nikki and Maureen and Micki come to mind.
It is about time I share my Blog with some people too. That is a little scary as I am writing more openly about what goes on in my head and with my health.

Today is not an easy day. Very stiff and painful moving. George is getting so good at giving awesome gentle hugs. I am so grateful for him. He is just the best most awesome husband; he takes such good care of me and leaves me alone when I am grumpy. He is supportive of my artwork.

George got a new set of Hybrid golf clubs yesterday. He is so happy with them - like a little kid.

I am learning about EBay and Etsy shops. And I would love to get published by Stampington.

My Studio space is growing in our guest bedroom. I'll post some pix of that too. I moved the bed away toward the other side of the room yesterday by turning the side table against the closet wall. Such a good move...way more breathing room to roll around in my chair.

So Tim Holtz is giving workshops here at our "She Scrapbooks" store next month. Just too expensive for me - over $125. I have been watching his videos on Ranger's site instead.

Have to get up and move around. And I need to find a soft comfy pillow for my chair.

Art Journal Spread

This is a Journal Spread I did in my Art Journal awhile back. Sunflowers for Lori.

June 20th Summer Solstice tonight.

Good morning,
So far I have wiped down the fridge and kitchen surfaces - drips and drabs; made the bed and got dressed. Paul just picked up Dad to take him home. We had a good visit.
Things to do today:
  • work on Rainbow hummingbird painting
  • review video on transfers
  • set up EBAY account and Paypal account
  • Put Mom's dishes on Craig's List
  • Finish  backs on Patriotic ATC's
  • Water bamboo
  • Call Aunty and Mom
Love and Blessings to all.

June 19th.

The guys are on their way to Inverness to play golf. Dad will be happy to see some old friends.

I am being interviewed today by the Sun about our Reiki Circle. I hope some people show up.

Still painting my Rainbow Bird. Added the word FLY in stenciled letters.

My first attempt at a transfer for the Generations book did not go well. I am not sure if the paper was too thick or if I didn't use enough gel medium. I haven't been able to find any acetone transfer film. I will google it later.

I pruned the rose bushes - working through the pain. They were looking ugly...

My Smash Book needs some more birds in it, so I am going to use all of my bird stamps in it.

My Patriotic ATC's are completed except for the backs. I will have to get moving and get them in the mail this week. I am wondering if MaryAnn can skype me into the ATC Club meeting at the store. I would love to be able to do that; Suzanne could come over too.

George and I went to the Tommy Roe concert last night. What great songs he wrote...I really enjoyed it.

Back to playing with my art stuff. I thank the Lord and George for being blessed to have so much.

Tuesday June 12th, 2012

Up early this morning with an upset stomach. I slept all afternoon yesterday after having the Red Hat's here. Thank God for George as he did all of the work getting ready and cleaning up. I had a good day pain-wise; grateful for that.

I hope that Suzanne G. and I can get together today. I want to tell her Tina's stories about RI.

It looks like the board book is going to be "Generations". I have a few more pages to gesso and then I can get to creating my pages. I've been reading the Alphabetica A to Z book and getting all sorts of inspiration.

My Clarissa portrait has too big a face so I will probably start over and try again.
I am going to scan some of my journal pages to post to the facebook journaling site.

TO DO LIST
  • Clean off work table
  • Scan Journal Pages
  • Gesso Board Book Pages
  • Start a page in the Moleskine Journal
  • Create Patriotic ATC's
  • Water Walk
  • Pick up prescription at CVS
  • Stay awaaaaaaay from Michaels
  • Organize Jewelry
  • Talk to Linda
More later...

6/11/2012 Monday

The Sun is out! It has been raining for a week now. Doesn't help my arthritis...getting worse. Glad I am an optimist! But I really could use a best friend hug.

June 9, 2012 Starting Over

It is almost a year since my last post...but what a year it has been...
I am more involved in Art, struggling with RA, and cherishing my family.

Right now I am working on a watercolor of the Koi pond that was on my street here in The Villages, Florida. I have two Art Journals, a Smash Book created from scratch and a Board Book that I am preparing for some mixed media collage about my inner stories.

Last month I went to visit my new great-granddaughter Clarissa in Delaware. She is the apple of my eye; so precious.

Many of my friends/family are struggling with health challenges. These are supposed to be the "Golden Years". Looks like I need a Gratitude list to keep the balance.

I am Grateful for:
                             my husband George
                             my husband George
                             my husband George
                             our home in FL
                             Family
                             my garden
                             creativity - my Muse
                             my spirit guides
                             my eyesight
                             ReiKi
                             Lori and Abi moving here

The short list for today!

We are going to the Flea Market and Sam's club today. I am looking for the little flags on toothpicks for my Patriotic ATC project. Should be fun.

I'll let you know.
